Their use is principally to serve as titleholders to properties and assets which one wishes to protect from every day risks, in the process to plan for the future and to set out corresponding inheritance rules. These Private Interest Foundations in Panama do not issue shares, they do have beneficiaries, and are managed by an administrator or a protector.

VISAS IN PANAMA, IMMIGRATIONRecently a new legal framework for the obtainment of Visas in Panama has been promulgated. Indeed, Law Decree No. 3 dated 22nd of February 2008, creates the National Immigration Service, the Immigration Career, and establishes other rulings. The purpose of this new legislative framework is to expedite the request for Visas in Panama and to simplify the associated processes, in this manner gaining efficiency and transparency. This law creates four (4) immigration categories: 1- Non resident (foreigners who occasionally enter the national territory, such as tourists, passengers, and in-transit and marine crews) 2- Temporary Resident (foreigners or their dependents who enter the national territory for the following reasons: work related, special policies, education, culture, for humanitarian or religious reasons, for a period of up to six years) 3- Permanent Resident (foreigners who enter the national territory for the following reasons: economic and investment related, on account of special policies and demographics and other sub-categories, with the purpose of residing in the country, in accordance with special policies adopted by the State) 4- State Protected Foreigners (such as refugees, asylum seekers, or stateless individuals)
